Barbie Picture Frame

I worked on a dollhouse picture for a Barbie scale room. I had been hanging on to this picture for some time now, hoping to get around to it. I made myself stop hoping and just do it. A while back everyone at work was putting together puzzles and bringing in new ones. I bought these simple but lovely 3D puzzles from the local Dollar Store. And the front of each box had a 3D picture to help put the puzzle together. I cut out the box front after the puzzles were done and saved them for dollhouse ideas. Gave the puzzles away. They were just too much, since I am an artist after hours and have nowhere to hang another picture and too many hobbies. I made a frame from some balsa wood and left it open on the back to make room for adding a new picture and changing the scene. I used double-sided tape to hang it in Barbie's apartment room. I just kind of imagine Paleontologist Barbie collecting art from her many travels and this being one of them. It looks better than the TV, but it gives me problems photographing when the flash goes off. The flash causes a line of light across it almost every time I take a picture. Still I like it and it's Barbie's favorite for now. I painted the frame to look more like a poster frame with black acrylic.

I found a really inexpensive Barbie knockoff doll for a very low price. I was really excited to see Barbie knockoff, because I have always believed it adds to the doll's friends. Apparently, it never hurt Mattel to have knockoffs of Barbie. This doll was under 5 dollars, has lovely thick hair and a fairly strong jointed body. And the real plus is she does wear Barbie shoes and can share Barbie clothes. I want to repaint her just for fun, so I got 2 of these. The Barbie shelf is in total disarray right now, because I went nuts with the Black Friday deals. Thank goodness I was unimpressed when I picked up the last doll last night. The things I liked were either gone or prices had returned to the usual.

Barbie Made to Move Blue Top came today from Amazon. I thought why did I order her? Have I gone completely mad? She could be head-swapped with Sasha Banks or maybe Alicia Fox? Oh I wanted her to make my Paleontologist doll into a Made to Move Barbie. I really loved Paleontologist Barbie. I really like that Barbie wears many hats, including a hardhat--Wow pink hardhat Barbie! Made to Move Blue top was the closest complexion to a hard-working paleontologist girl. But Blue Top is so beautiful, can I really behead her?

I did. I can get another blue top sometime in the future. But not the paleontologist girl. I gave her a real fossil from my own fossil digging days. I think it is called a Murex shell. It is somewhere around 3 million years old? It fits Barbie like a huge conch shell. She didn't find any Mastodon teeth but that's okay she had a good day, digging in Aurora, NC.

Barbie can stand on her own a little while in those work boots. I was amazed the flat shoes can help a little with posing for the picture. I love the serious look on her face. She's really into what she does both work and play.

There was one unusual thing I noticed about head-swapping Barbie with Made to Move Barbie. The brown-headed doll has short-neck syndrome now that she is swapped. The peg that goes up into their heads is somehow longer? I still just had to have it. The Paleontologist looks like she has a longer neck.

My Moxie Teenz doll tried on the WWE Superstars dress and shoes and is in love with it. She wants a date now that she's dressing like a girl. The dress is tight and short on her but really pretty.  Her red hair is a wig I made. It isn't the greatest quality but it is easier to manage than the Monique Gold wig I have for her. I love the curls but they are harder to manage than brushing straight hair. The Monique wig is just very fine hair like my own and has flyaway days.

Some more dolls from all the sales came in this weekend. I must of got click-mania or something. I was like did I really get that carried away over those beautiful dolls? To me they just look more like fashion models than any of the Barbie dolls ever. I liked this one for the pink shoes and dress. She is Brie.

Alicia Fox is now in my collection. I wouldn't do anything different to these dolls besides dress them. They are just fabulous when it comes to looks.

I decided to go ahead and breakdown and get the Wonder Woman at least one. I liked some of the others more but this one was on sale for a good price. The one that shoots the arrow, I only loved her shoes. I haven't taken her out of the box, but I do believe her feet are the same as the WWE dolls. Not 100% sure yet. I did try some Barbie clothes on the more athletic WWE girls. The stretchy clothes go on and are a bit tight. And of course Barbie can wear WWE Superstar clothes but not shoes. I didn't take any pictures yet.

WWE Superstars Dolls and Pre-Black Friday Shopping at K-mart

I really fell for these WWE dolls. After I got Becky, I went looking for some other styles. I really liked the packs with extra evening shoes and a dress. I got Sasha Banks. I didn't even leave her in her package long enough to photograph the package. I thought her boots were pink but they are purple. Her snazzy pink glasses are really nice. I've seen better glasses but the color is perfectly pink. Here I compared her to Barbie Made to Move with the dark complexion. I just think Sasha is more glamorous than Made to Move.
Their skin tones are close but not exact. I was wondering if I would like the WWE head on a Made to Move body. Probably not.
I really got happy when I realized the shoes fit a Moxie Teenz doll. I had this secondhand doll in a box for a while and was wondering where to buy her some stuff. Such a sweet doll to end up in a box and forgotten. I think Moxie Teenz are completely retired.
This is a closeup of the Moxie Teenz feet in the WWE Superstars shoes. The fit is great.
I don't usually like the odd hair colors but I loved this girl's face. She is Asuku. I thought she was Asian. I am still not sure, because I don't really follow wrestling. The hair is fine in my opinion. It needs to be washed and styled, because it is stiff.
The package wasn't too great when I got her but I don't mind. I didn't buy her for a blister pack. I got a better price on her probably for the packaging. The back of the packs tell something about the character she represents and introduces some of the other dolls in the line. Her shoes are blue like the bright blue in her hair.
Eva Marie was on sale and looks stunning. Her hair is redder than Becky's. Becky's hair is more orange. I personally think Becky's hair looks more like a real redhead, because we have red hair in our family and it is like carrot colored. Eva's hair is red-red. Of course, that is just my opinion. I read other reviews on Eva and some people believe her hair has an orangish tint to it. The bracelet is a nice feature. It is a gold cuff.

Carmella has a really square jaw-line. I think she could use a sexier face up or something. She looks too tough in this picture. I would like to make her more glamorous. Her lips are too pale. She needs more color. That is my opinion.
The artwork on the back of the package is prettier than how the doll came out. I could use this as a guide to style her for an evening dress and high heels.
Next is Charlotte. The dolls had quite a few blondes. They almost look like Barbies. I got them anyhow. She has a mole on the chin and extra clothes. And a huge smile showing lots of teeth.

Lana doll reminds me more of the Disney dolls with the serious face or maybe Wonder Woman? I really like this expression.

Now this is where I stop off at K-mart and ordered a Naomi doll. I wanted a darker complexion doll in my collection and less blondes. I shopped on line to get the online price. Then I wait till they text me, go pick up the doll. Get home and no Naomi. I had Natalya instead. I had read customer reviews about getting the wrong doll when they order Naomi. I think the SKU number could be wrong. How could so many people across the country get Natalya when they order Naomi. Oh well, Natalya was on my wish list eventually. So now I have her silver dress and black high heels to share with the other dolls.
She has a pink streak in her hair.
I ordered another doll from K-mart and they didn't have it. Bummer. I know I will either get my money back or a doll. I can't wait to see what I actually get. Meanwhile I went to the Barbie aisle to see what deals could be had. They had a few of the other doll packs I would have liked but no sale on them. I saw the Barbies I would love to bring home but was worried I would impulse shop. So I decided to wait and look again when I get the next text. So glad I did. Because, I just got the Black Friday sale papers and the dolls I liked will be half price. But that is the other thing. They will probably go fast at half price. I guess I will wait and see. I don't generally go out on Black Friday. It makes me feel like I am trying to win a contest or something.
So now I have to do some leaf raking for Thanksgiving. It's that time of year. Happy Thanksgiving to all folks reading this.

I was looking at pictures of my Barbie kitchen and realized it is not true to the Barbie scale 1/6th. So I went and got my little Owl Basaak doll and put her in the scene. She's just right. I am calling this kitchen 1/10th scale from now on. It is still just so cute. If I had time I would design something better of my very own, but not yet.
I ordered some fashion doll shoes very inexpensive. They were supposed to fit 16 inch fashion dolls like Tonner Tyler. I don't know if they did because I sold mine. But I had an Madame Alexander doll with jointed feet and no way did they fit the jointed feet. Then I remembered poor forgotten Liv doll that doesn't have much to wear. She was like a princess and got all 3 pairs for her very own shoes.
I don't know if I mentioned Liv before but she was called a dancing doll. Her waist was so loose she couldn't even set up. I put a rubber band/ hair tie in her waist and she is posing like a charm. Also she can stand on her on in these new shoes. I think she's cool. She has been sitting next to my coffee maker to cheer me on as I get off to work.
In case I didn't mention I got the kitchen set on Amazon. It came with a toaster and toast, pots and pans, the list goes on. The little stove has light up burners and a timer bell. I love it and that's what matters.
Sometimes I feel I have an obsession with doll shoes. Good doll shoes can be the hardest thing to get a hold of on a budget. So I tried WWE Superstar doll shoes on Liv. She can pose in them. But they fall off when I pick her up.
And here's WWE Becky's feet next to the Liv sized shoes. The feet are just wider but the dolls stand on their own too with the correct shoes.
I just couldn't bear the curiosity of what Minerva wears out of the box. She is a part of the Harry Potter series of dolls. First thing I noticed is the feet are big. I had already seen through the box that her hands are detailed. Her clothes are super nice for Halloween. I looked all over the place for something to dress my dolls for Halloween and couldn't really find anything. So now I got something good. Liv got her coat and is naming excuses to leave. She thinks this witch outfit is gone too far.
Here Minerva is training her pet spider (or familiar spirit). She's not a big fan of cats, so spiders and ghoul work for her.
So I tried Becky's boots on her and they are a bit big. But these shoes pose her without a stand. I like it. I am going to try to pull together some outfit that appeals to older women.
Here I tried to get closer to her shoes. They seem a bit out of focus. I really like them.

I tried to capture the details in her hands but the flash washed them out. The hands are molded to show little bones in the backs of the hands. The fabric of her outfit is extremely nice. That I can see. Her wand I believe could use some improvement--like with magical jewels. I really want to customize this doll.

Update on Basaak doll and my first WWE doll

I finally got the original doll wig cap back on my Basaak doll. I curled it too. She is so cute in every style. I love her owl like eyes and bought her a Beanie Baby owl with golden eyes to love and to hold. The hair was not as thick as on the Blythe or Icy doll but still it is cute.
It is rainy outside so the flash keeps going off when I take her picture. The doll's body is not high quality. I found that the click knees really don't work at all. But she can raise her arms straight out to the sides besides up and down. I am a fan of the all jointed body, but the jointed body doesn't stand as well as she does for sure.
A little scalp is showing from different angles. And the blue back plate I painted her. If you haven't seen the back plate click here.
This bruise mark wasn't on her when I got her. I put whitening toothpaste on it for a couple of days, trying to get it out. I  think it is the wire inside her leg that is supposed to make her bendable. Still she wears most Barbie shoes. I collect Barbie shoes, so that was really fun.
I actually bought this doll to see if I could customize my own doll. So she was my experiment doll. I feel attachment kicking in every time I look at her big eyes.
I really would like to try some of the epoxy sculpting next. Maybe I can give a doll pointy ears like an elf?
She just is telling me elf is not really her style. She's a fairy and needs cute wings or something.
Today I got home and received this lovely Becky Lynch doll. The package got wet even in the mail box but I didn't mind. I didn't get her to keep her in a box. This doll is like a Barbie but with a very athletic body. I was attracted to the fact they are jointed at least in the elbows and knees. Her orange hair will be a nice addition to the Barbie collection I am building.
Becky doll can be found on Amazon for under 10 dollars right now. I love her cute outfit. She fits right in with my Barbie kitchen and could be a Barbie friend. The only noticeable thing about Becky is she has big feet but stands on her on without a stand.
The WWE dolls have more variety in their face sculpts too. I love the many features I have seen online and in other reviews about the dolls.
As far as I can tell the only way to get a collection of shoes is to buy more dolls. I think that would be called a complimentary product. I noticed that some of the doll packs have 2 outfits and 2 pairs of shoes but the price is much higher.
I tried some fashion shoes that go with 16 inch fashion dolls like Tonner and her feet are too wide. She is bigger than Liv doll or Monster High doll shoes also. She is even bigger than Zeenie dollz and jointed Blythe doll shoes. This means I am going to have to collect some dolls to get the variety of shoes and colors I love. At least the doll's sculpts are more varied than the Made to Move Barbies. I know there are quite a few of them but the Millie sculpt is usually the best price and more common.
I can't wait till Thanksgiving. I want to spend more time with my dolls and crafts. I could really use a break from work. I'll post some pictures of my Minerva doll perhaps. Minerva is going to be the head of the arts college for the ladies in my diorama. They all like different kinds of arts and music. Some sports are okay too. I like my Barbies to be in great shape, but I do think yoga is more my style.
