I pierced the ears on the Lusis face plate this weekend. I still need to gloss her lips. I am still thinking about selling the doll. I really don't have time for so many dolls.I like her but I know I will just never do much with her. The one thing I really like about this doll is the head poses to just about any position and holds really well. Teeth are so cute too.
I am thinking about piercing her hand like a Moxie Teenz doll. Then you can insert a ring into her hand much like an earring for photos. It's supposed to look like she has a ring on.

I got out my poor little 5star doll Mia and tried on some of the 1/4 scale stuff on her. I had not really thought about it much but the little jackets fit fine with hoodies too. I was wondering what to do with this unusually sized doll. She is bigger than the Littlefee. I just love the doll. It is either the first or second bjd I ever got. She has been discontinued for several years. I just can't part with the doll. I love her too much. I like the way her eyes seem to follow me around as I look at her from different angles. I like the elf ears. At first I only wanted elf ear dolls, but the prices are so high for resin dolls, I am glad to get any doll. I am still thinking dollhouse sized dolls are my kind of dolls. I like the 1/8th and 1/12th scale more than anything. It is just so hard to let go once I get the doll. I think collectors call it bonding with the doll. If I talk to her while I am fixing her clothes and hair, she's mine. So silly, I make myself chuckle when I realize I am talking to a doll. I tried this vintage boy style wig on her and it shows off her elf ears.

BJD Doll's Updates and Photos After the Snowy Week

Minifee and Unoa doll both posing together with their new ear piercings. They look like best friends.
I got a secondhand Lati Yellow doll. I didn't think I would ever get one of these 1/8th scale dolls. They are so expensive for such a tiny doll. I put the light blue eyes in her, because I can see them better. I added a little blush because I thought she was too pale.
But 1/8th scale dolls look good in my log cabin dollhouse I built. I can't wait to make them cute outfits. Here they are together on the porch I made. I traded their eyes and wigs around just to see what looks best for each one. Left to right is TylTyl, PongPong, Verne, Lati doll, Sleepy. Sleepy is 1/12th scale but looks like the runt in this picture. I am not sure which sculpt Lati doll is. I think from looking at pictures on the Internet, she is Byurl sculpt. I love her smile. It makes me feel cheerful to look at her. If I had to scale back on dolls, the tinies would all be keepers. I think the dollhouse sized items are more my grail. I thought grail dolls would be the expensive, rare dolls. But no I am not finding that to be the case for me. They are the one's I enjoy playing with the most.

I finally finished blushing my little Verne doll from Impldoll. I tried on the little wig I made for TylTyl's huge head and decided it suits Verne more. This doll was really hard to paint. The resin was so slick like Vaseline. But I just kept working on it. I gave him long eyelashes too. I like that he's as pretty as a girl. He's like a little forest creature that came to live here.

Little Big Eyes compared to Factory Blythe and Barbie Made to Move

I found a very inexpensive doll like Blythe. These dolls were made briefly in 2001. They were made by Street Wise Designs. I had to know if the doll could be customized like Blythe. I got her new in the box but didn't photo the unboxing or original clothes. That really wasn't the point to getting the doll. She has 4 CCEs (color changing eyes). The difference is you push a button instead of pulling a string.

She has pink eyes with black pupils. I love these and they match her hair. I wouldn't change these ever. Her arms raise to the side and she has click knees like Blythe.

She has blue eye chips with dark blue pupils
She has brown eye chips with dark brown pupils.
She has green eye chips with dark green pupils.
Due to her age and and different materials of arms, legs and body, she has color differences.

Her hair is not very thick like Blythe or Icy dolls. It's thinner like Basaak dolls.
She had staining from her clothes. Her feet are big. I tried a bunch of shoes and nothing fit so far except some shoes that go on jointed Blythe. She has flat feet so she can't wear Monster High shoes. She did come with a silver colored pair of her own. Next to her in the photo is Factory Blythe with Barbie shoe sized feet.
Her body is shorter than M2M Barbie.
She can still wear some Barbie sized clothes.

Snowblind in NC

I captured a silver lining this morning. You can see the snow steaming off the limbs of the plum tree as the sun strikes it with its gentle warmth.

Making up a Unoa Sist and Lusis Practice doll

I had this cute Unoa doll for sometime and didn't do much for her. I am snowed in today, so I decided to work on her some more. I worked on her face up after work a few times last week. I blushed her. I pierced the ears on her Sist faceplate today. I am still debating about whether to pierce her Lusis faceplate. Because I found out with my Minifee doll the piercing makes the doll look older. I still love her but she was fine without the piercings. I like my dolls to look more girly than mature.
I really like the tiny chest for this doll. Most of the MSD sized dolls I have seen have huge breasts. The teeth are so cute too. I really love this doll now that she has a little color in her. She is just coming to life for me.

I used a Harbor Freight drill with a tiny bit. I didn't want to use Dremel for this. I was worried I might really do more harm than good. The earrings I chose needed just a little bending to put backs on them. They go in without any bending but to get a back on them so they won't fall out easily, I do have to bend slightly the posts. I also used a damp rag to pick up any dust as I worked. It was too cold to go outside and I didn't want resin dust indoors. I did get them a little bit crooked but it really doesn't show unless you are really looking at it just for that reason.

The next picture shows how I had to go in at an angle. The face plates are very thick and the ears aren't separated from the head like on the Minifee. I had to really study about it to figure out how to use stud earrings on her.
I didn't think it would be a good idea to go all the way through the head plate either. Then the face plate when mounted to the back of the head would interfere with putting in the earrings.
I really thought her hands were kind of clumsy and large but she looks great in her pictures. I may even let her have her ears pierced. Come to think of it, I had mine done in 6th grade.
The next picture shows how to make her sit without leaning back. She can slump forward with the little piece in her back. The piece doesn't show when she has on clothes either.

Mirwen's earrings are made from seed beads.

I have finally got to work with dolls again.

I have finally got to work with dolls again. It was cold out so I didn't work on the yard much this weekend. I am getting ready to plant turnips and onions soon. It is supposed to get a little warmer next week. I worked on Icy doll. This was the hardest doll to take apart and put back together I have ever done. I am still having difficulty getting the face plate tight to the back plate. It seems the doll's scalp was glued in some areas and I had to cut a little of the rubber scalp away to get the head open. It has been awhile since I worked on any of the dolls so I had trouble remembering some of the things I did. I took some notes to help me get more into it.

My Icy doll came with a Tiiger body, which is like Azone but from China. She has almost same body as my first Matte face Blythe but a more petite bust and waist. The feet are the large size like my first Blythe too. They are too big for any Barbie shoes.
  1. I pierced her ears with a tiny drill bit. She can wear human earrings.
  2. I ground some shape into her face with aluminum oxide Dremel bits. I used wet/dry sanding sponge from dollar store with bleach to clean and smooth. Buffed with cloth wheel and shampoo to clean and lubricate the buffing process.
  3.  I flicked in freckles. Dab with tissue and flick as I learned from youtube.
  4. Boggled her eyes.
  5. Mainly used conte chalks and cloth buffing wheel for blending.
  6. Used gesso to make teeth. Took tiniest scissor point scratched it in black conte chalk pastel. Then dabbed in little lines between teeth to make it look like it has 2 front teeth.
  7. Sprayed with Krylon matte finish. Later I will add gloss to teeth for wet look.
  8. I couldn't get her eyelashes out, so I trimmed them, leaving just enough to glue on false eyelashes.
She is very wobbly now that I worked on her. I combed and braided her curly brown hair. I didn’t see too much hair loss but a few tangles. Not bad, since I got her on Amazon for a very reasonable price. She's cuter than ever now.

I also worked on my Basaak doll. I made her gold eye chips with gold ink. I tried some doll wigs on her to get different looks for her. She has new lashes too.

Someday I hope to do a real Blythe mod.
